Dr. Andy Mutz - Founding Director
Andy manages key Codesta engagements, building and maintaining relationships to ensure our solutions have deep tangible results that exceed client expectations.
In 2001 Dr. Mutz established his own consulting practice providing technical due diligence and intellectual property assessments to private equity investors examining software companies and providing technical management consulting to seed-stage investigations. Previously, he was the Senior Vice President of Technology at Internet Pictures Corporation. His responsibilities included leading numerous technology valuation and assessment efforts, including the cost valuation of the PictureWorks acquisition, managing 60+ individuals across engineering, product management and network operations, and owning product strategy for the company's real estate business. He also represented the technical team that successfully negotiated eBay's user-submitted image service. Within three months his team integrated and deployed the service, creating one of the most trafficked systems on the Internet. Dr. Mutz served as Vice President of Engineering for bamboo.com in 1999 until bamboo.com and Interactive Pictures merged to form iPIX.
Prior to joining bamboo.com, Dr. Mutz was a lead architect in HP Labs and in Hewlett-Packard's Internet Imaging Operation, where he developed the OpenPix products, the prototype for HP's Cartogra web site, and co-authored the Internet Imaging Protocol. At Hewlett-Packard Labs he developed the color fax protocol and first standards-based color fax machine in addition to numerous web-based imaging applications.
Before joining HP in 1994, Dr Mutz worked at Eastman Kodak Company, where he authored and received two patents related to color and image enhancement.
Dr. Mutz received his Ph.D. in Applied Physics from Caltech in 1991, and holds undergraduate degrees from MIT in physics and mechanical engineering.
