WHO WE ARE

Pat McCarten - Managing Director

Pat McCarten - Managing Director Pat has over 13 years of diversified experience in the Technology sector, with hands-on roles in information technology, project management and business development.

A graduate of Huron College, at the University of Western Ontario, Pat prides himself on simplifying complex problems and translating technical concepts to non-technical people. Pat finds, builds and manages engagements for Codesta, while overseeing the day to day operations.

Pat joined Codesta in 2005 after he and his wife returned from living in the Silicon Valley, California for 5 1/2 years. Refreshed after a five month trip through Central and South America, Pat re-immersed himself in the Project Management industry, and sought to find a process that best suited a change-oriented Engineering approach. After almost 4 years at Codesta Pat feels he's found a process that balances product with the process, while providing decision makers with visibility into software development. Since his arrival at Codesta, it is this (modified Agile process) that has been used on all of Codesta's projects, and has driven repeated successful product launches.

Prior to Codesta, Pat was the Director of Business Development at Internet Pictures Corporation from 2003 to 2005. In this capacity Pat managed IPIX's largest revenue generating relationships including closing strategic agreements with the world's largest Real Estate website, Realtor.com (Move, Inc. NASDAQ: MOVE), and the largest Multiple Listing Service (MLS) in the United States, Metropolitan Regional Information Systems (MRIS). From 1998 to 2003, Pat managed IPIX's Information Technology department. The team met the challenge of growing a startup of 20 people through an explosive period of hyper-growth resulting in over 800 staff, plus an additional 800 contractors and 5 regional offices, all in an eighteen month period. Pat's department grew to include 23 IT Staff and Analysts, and would eventually include the day to day management of eBay's pay-per-use Imaging products application. Pat fondly remembers these days in California. They were fun, hard working and victories were frequently celebrated at The Oasis. Enjoy a Gilroy today!

Beginning his career, Pat worked for 2 organizations gaining technical expertise and early technical project management skills. With Information Access Inc, Pat worked as a Systems Engineer supporting sales and integration efforts on Enterprise Java based web development environments for Sun Microsystems (formerly NetDynamics). Before IAI, Pat worked in various roles for Open Text Corporation (formerly Centrinity, formerly SoftArc Inc) and enjoyed the early days of Internet technologies.
